Asset
management is
often used as the synonym of investment management(e.g. land property
investment) or fund management. Asset manager is a person that usually
specializes in discretionary or advisory management, is a provider of
different asset management services and works with private investors.
So, asset management is a very wide definition. Many investors call it
private banking or wealth management. Asset management includes many
different aspects and relative fields among them are asset and stock
selection, monitoring of investments, asset trading etc.
Asset
management is a great industry today that has a global meaning. In
other words it is taking care of huge sums of money in different
currents all over the world. Today there are many private asset
management firms that provide different asset management services. Any
asset management company tries to offer some interesting ideas,
concepts and techniques of funds management to its clients.
There are also some international asset management organizations and
associations that are not-profit and organized by investors of
different countries for their own needs and international assistance.
Lots of huge and world known brands and investors are members of such
associations. So it is really possible to talk about global asset
management. Nowadays when competition among private businessmen and
companies is very high it is desirable to know at least basic
principles of asset management to feel more comfortable in the business
world. Dozens of books are devoted to fundamental theory of asset
management as well as to the specific aspects of this,
especially to asset trading, because it seems to be the most
profitable. Much information on this topic can be found in the
Internet, of course. It is also possible to attend special training
programs and courses organized by asset management companies for
ordinary people willing to know how to "take care" of their assets and
funds.
